With us, teachers and school leaders expand their skills, knowledge, and abilities to lift students to new heights.

About

Education is a complex system that requires dynamical solutions tailored to the ever-changing needs of each school environment. IEE supports your school improvement process in a research-based and deliberate manner. We know that you know your school best. And we know that you have a vision for what you want your school to become. That’s why we begin by working alongside your educators and students -- learning your school’s unique values, goals, and challenges -- and we help you achieve your goals by implementing your vision for your school. Everything we do is focused on empowering your educators to increase their students’ learning.

Our Philosophy and Approach

IEE believes in partnering with schools to support educators to improve their culture/climate and student achievement.  We understand that schools know their own schools best and that the educators in the school have a vision for what they want for their students, educators and community.  IEE seeks to empower educators to achieve their own goals because we believe that sustainable change happens from “the inside out”.

Coaches at IEE approach school improvement and reform using two powerful, research-based systems or processes: Cognitive Coaching and Adaptive Schools.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Through professional development and coaching, IEE serves as a catalyst to empower educators to exceed the demands of an ever-evolving education environment in order to meet the unique learning needs of every student.

Our Vision

We want to see a world where every educator fosters a learning environment where all children are excited about learning, their natural curiosity is nurtured, and they use innovation and creativity to solve real-world problems in preparation to become the leaders of tomorrow.

OUR BELIEFS

Our team's shared beliefs are built from a passion to provide every student with excellent learning opportunities.

  • All decisions, big or small, must be made by placing the needs of students first.
  • Relationships matter...they matter a whole lot, and must be built and maintained with students and colleagues.
  • All sustainable, deep school improvement and change must take place from the inside out.
  • The adults in every school control all the variables necessary to ensure success for all students.
  • The quality of adult conversations in schools mediates student success.
  • Collaboration is not optional, it is absolutely essential to meet the needs of 21st century learners and collaboration is a skill that must be learned and practiced.
  • Individuals' behaviors are governed by the identities and beliefs they hold.
  • There is not a curriculum, a program, or a strategy that can substitute for effective teaching.
  • Data must consistently and consciously guide decisions around teaching and learning.
  • Coaching supports teachers and administrators as they become self-directed, reflective learners.
Cognitive Coaching SM

Cognitive Coaching

All IEE Coaches are trained and consistently use Cognitive Coaching SM to support the “thinking” of teachers and administrators.  IEE Coaches do NOT coach behavior, but rather “cognition” because ALL behaviors and actions are preceded by thought.

At IEE we know that schools do not need someone coming to tell them what to do, they need a skilled coach to help them plan and reflect on their own classroom or school.

IEE provides powerful professional learning opportunities for educators.  Our sessions are always tailored to a group’s specific needs, are highly engaging, model best practices and are facilitated with the highest quality.  AND the learning does not stop at the end of the session, IEE instructional coaching provides the necessary follow-up to ensure that new learning is implemented in every classroom.

Adaptive Schools

Adaptive Schools

IEE uses the Adaptive Schools SM model to build collaborative capacities in schools. This model can be considered the “how” of professional learning communities. IEE coaches both teach and demonstrate the skills of collaboration so that educators can engage in powerful, deep collaboration that results in improved cultures and increased student achievement.

The “IEE Way” is based on our ten shared beliefs and values and hundreds of schools across the state and nation have partnered with us to achieve their own vision of success.

School Improvement

School Improvement Victory Circle

The Institute works with school and district leadership to identify best strategies for implementing the activities of the school improvement plan. Then, based on data about educator needs, a plan is developed. Plans range from professional development workshops to increase educator's skills and knowledge; to facilitation of meetings in order to build a sustainable culture; to job-embedded coaching to ensure implementation of new learning with fidelity. Formative data is collected during the implementation phase of the plan and adjustments are made. Using data to drive professional development decisions and the school improvement process is known as the IEE Victory Circle.

Using feedback from participants, presenters use formative and summative data gathered at each session to assess learning and adjust upcoming session content. IEE works with participants to set personal growth goals which are measurable and allows each participant to demonstrate improved practice. Organization growth is measured through formative and summative data as identified by the organization.
