Instructional Coach
Barb Huston is a FIM and Literacy Coach at The Institute for Excellence in Education where she coaches teachers to improve instruction in both math and literacy.
Barb was an elementary classroom teacher for 25 years and was named Michigan’s 20-21 Region 4 teacher of the year. Barb served many years on School Improvement teams, worked collaboratively with colleagues and administrators to write curriculum, and served as an adjunct faculty member at SVSU. Over her career, she trained nine student teachers and opened her classroom to multiple college students completing their methodology work. Barb loves helping teachers grow their pedagogy.
Barb is a self-proclaimed gardener and loves hiking all around the state of Michigan.
Barb earned both her Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education and her Master’s Degree in early childhood education from Saginaw Valley State University.
