Scott Preston grew up in Holly, Michigan and while attending high school there was inspired by his football coach and math teacher to consider education as a career choice. He did just that, graduating from the University of Michigan-Flint with a B.A. in Elementary Education. He began his teaching career in the Godwin Heights School District in Wyoming, Michigan where he taught 8th grade math and ELA. He also coached varsity baseball and middle school basketball for both boys and girls. With the birth of his twin daughters, he and his wife Cammie decided to return to east-central Michigan to be near family. Scott accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Marshall Greene soon afterward and served in that capacity for 7 years and earned his Masters Degree in School Principalship from Central Michigan University during his tenure as Assistant Principal. He is currently beginning his 12th year as Principal at Marshall Greene Middle School.
Scott’s family resides in Birch Run, where his son is a junior at Birch Run High School. His twin daughters are both college students majoring in helping professions; education and nursing. In fact, daughter Madison hopes to be a middle school math teacher! The Prestons have added a son-in-law within the past year, who is currently serving in the U.S. Navy. Scott is an avid sports fan and particularly enjoys baseball and hockey.
As a leader, Scott Preston is a strong proponent of Distributive Leadership and encourages the faculty to grow and develop their own leadership skills. “We have a tremendous team of teachers who work together to reach our goals. I am very proud of the school culture we have built at Marshall Greene.”
