Does your school have new teachers that are rolling out the Focused Instructional Model for Math, but never received training? New teachers (or teachers new to a certain grade level) are often expected to “hit the ground running” and implement FIM with full fidelity without a deep understanding of the system itself. This engaging workshop will help those teachers that are new to FIM understand the ins and outs of the system and feel comfortable with implementation.
Participants will:
- Receive an overview of FIM Math that will help explain the “what, why, and how” behind the system;
- Understand how to roll out Warm-Ups and Progress Monitoring Tests to students with fidelity;
- Explore the non-cognitive factors (Habits of Mind) exhibited by students that directly relate to FIM;
- Understand the value of incoming formative assessment data and how to use data to make informed decisions for students.
To help convey the FIM Math information to the audience, the presenters will use highly engaging protocols for processing new information and for sharing ideas with other educators in the room. Participants will explore the possibilities for using these strategies with students in their classrooms.
