- Identify needs of new teachers in terms of their practice
- Learn skills of communication and collaboration
- Build the capacity for shared understanding in the mentor/mentee relationship
- Explore powerful instructional strategies that foster a positive learning environment
- Examine ways to promote teacher efficacy and support new teachers to be reflective and self-directed
Your Facilitators
Patricia Benson is the former founder and director of the Center for Excellence in Education that garnered two national awards for increasing student achievement in high-needs middle schools throughout Michigan. She is absolutely committed to improving the lives of students and making certain that all students are learning at high levels. To this end, she has spent most of her career supporting teachers and coaches to be effective educators. Pat is trained in Cognitive Coaching, the skills of collaboration through Adaptive Schools, Kagan Cooperative Learning and is the author of High-Performing Teams.
Dave Nizinski brings more than thirty years of educational experience to the Institute for Excellence in Education. From working with emotionally impaired students to leading a middle school through reform, Dave’s expertise is vast. Dave is highly skilled in the use of Cognitive Coaching skills and is
an expert facilitator.
Event Registration Cancellation Policy:
Transfer: Registrations are transferrable, but not refundable. Substitutions for persons attending can be made up to one day in advance of the event without charge.
Cancellation by Participant: No refunds will be given, but a voucher for attendance at another Institute for Excellence in Education event will be offered, and will be valid for one full year.
Cancellation by IEE: In the event of circumstances beyond its control, the Institute for Excellence in Education reserves the right to amend or cancel any event. If the Institute for Excellence in Education cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund.
