LSSU Math Workshop

[threecol_two]
Lake Superior State University is offering K-8 teachers at Bay City Academy, Advanced Technology Academy, Regent Park Scholars, and American International Academy a unique professional learning opportunity. LSSU is providing a three day summer mathematics workshop followed by instructional coaching during the 2014-2015 school year. Schools will see the most benefit if grade level teams attend together. Teachers from participating schools should register and plan to attend the three day workshop called FIM 1.

Purpose

The Focused Instructional Model Part 1 will give teachers the necessary tools to implement this model into their classroom and assist them with the transition into full implementation of the Common Core State Standards.

Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Analyze data
  • Use data to identify key concepts (power standards)
  • Identify key concepts to cycle
  • Understand the value of Progress Monitoring Tests
  • Begin creating banks of questions.
