Students across the nation often find themselves disconnected from their daily math instruction. It’s time to revise the typical daily model from a teacher-centered approach to a new student-centered, discovery-based model. Students should be given time to explore new content and make connections on their own and with peers.
Participants in this workshop will learn about moving from the antiquated “I-we-you” model to the new “you-y’all-we” approach. Student engagement and cooperative learning strategies will also be introduced and explored. Educators will learn how to incorporate increased discourse (teacher-student and student-student) during their math time.
