Why are students so quick to ask for help? Because teachers are so quick to give them help! After all, we became educators to nurture children. Our day together will feature classroom structures and strategies that will help students become proficient problem solvers through providing a productive struggle and allowing time for students to exhibit perseverance.

Facilitators

Kevin Champagne: As an Instructional Coach for the Institute for Excellence in Education, Kevin provides professional development and job-embedded coaching to educators throughout Michigan. With over 12 years of classroom experience, Kevin specializes in data-driven instruction and mathematics best-practices. Passionate about increasing student achievement, he also excels in technology integration in the classroom and increasing parent involvement. Kevin holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Saginaw Valley State University.

traceymckenzie150x150Tracey McKenzie earned her teaching degree from Northern Michigan University majoring in both elementary mathematics and English; she attained her Master’s Degree from Michigan State University in Early Childhood. Tracey has worked in a variety of educational settings including preschool, middle school, and alternative education. She has training in the skills of collaboration through both Cognitive Coaching and Adaptive Schools. Her area of expertise is in student-centered data analysis. Through her coaching experience, Tracey believes that collaboration and trust allows educators the opportunity to do what is best for all children.

Michigan Department of Education State Continuing Education Clock Hours are available for an additional fee.

Event Registration Cancellation Policy

Transfer: Registrations are transferrable, but not refundable. Substitutions for persons attending can be made up to one day in advance of the event without charge.

Cancellation by Participant: No refunds will be given, but a voucher for attendance at another Institute for Excellence in Education event will be offered and will be valid for one full year.

Cancellation by IEE: In the event of circumstances beyond its control, the Institute for Excellence in Education reserves the right to amend or cancel any event. If the Institute for Excellence in Education cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund.F
